I am a massage therapist and fourth-year Bachelor of Health Science candidate. My practice focuses on healing physical dysfunction through manual treatment, educating patients about the anatomy of problem areas, and helping them easily integrate rehab exercises and positive movement into their current lifestyles. My manual approach is rooted in deep tissue and fascial work with passive stretching and joint manipulation. My treatments are generally moderate-deep pressure combined with smooth flow and relaxation techniques. I help patients create an effective personal health system that they can get excited about and that is very doable, even on those “worst” days.
Many of my patients are people with chronic pain (various spinal issues, fibromyalgia/central pain sensitization, etc.), repetitive strain and other injuries, people with insomnia/anxiety/depression/PTSD (including postpartum adjustment). I treat a slew of patients with other issues; please email the clinic if you have any specific concerns or questions.
Availability: I work around the other therapists and so my availability rotates every few months.

Since 2009, as a Registered Massage Therapist, I have had the privilege of working with people on their path to wellness. I strive to create a welcoming space of healing where I not only assess the physical symptoms but also listen to each individual story and narrative. Every injury has a different history of physical complications and emotional ups and downs that I promise to consider while I create a treatment plan that is best suited for you.
Whether your aches and pains are derived from a physical imbalance or emotional turmoil, my intention is to encourage the body to move into a state of ease. In my practice, with the help of my intuition, I use a number of different techniques such as hot stone massage, hot/cold stone massage, Swedish massage, trigger point release, myofascial release, joint play, dermoneuromodulation and gentle lymphatic drainage to encourage a healthier and more relaxed state of being.
I have an immense respect for the way our emotions, memories and traumas can be held physically in our body and I work well with those suffering from chronic pain, fibromyalgia, stress, anxiety and post-traumatic stress. To have you entrust me with your challenges is an honour that I do not take lightly and as your massage therapist, I promise to help you to the best of my ability.
Treatments/Availability: I offer both 60 and 90 minute treatments, with the option of hot stone. Beginning in February 2019, I will be available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Treatment style: I’ve had particularly good results treating stubbornly tense muscle, trigger points (eg: tension headaches, sustained “stabbing” back/arm/chest pain), pain-anxiety-tension cycles (eg: frozen shoulder, chronic low back/neck pain), and nerve impingements (eg: sciatica, piriformis/carpal tunnel/thoracic outlet syndromes, limb/extremity numbness/coldness). Treatments consist of 2-5m intakes and sendoffs with the remainder being hands-on. I dive right into problem areas securely but intensively. My depth is moderate-to-deep and my style integrates classic massage with flowing/rocking techniques, often involving exercise and movement. My treatments are most effective over 2-3 weekly 45m sessions, and if it’s your first time, I recommend a 45m treatment to start if you’re complaining of pain in one area, and 60m if you have discomfort in two or more.
About me: I’ve been massaging for 15 years, the last five of which I’ve focused on more clinical work, especially on treating chronic muscle pain and tension. Suffering from (and having resolved) the same myself has given me deeper insight into these issues. I’ve worked across five provinces and have taught massage therapy at WCCMT up the street as well as at a few universities abroad. I hold a BSc (bio) and MSc (sport psych), wrote a thesis on trigger points (spmx.ca/trp), and have been doing judo for almost 25 years, now teaching it at SFU. Outside of work and sport, I volunteer teaching biology at the aquarium and am wrapping up more school, this in cryptocurrency.
