Meet the Dream RMTeam

Joanna Sulzycki RMT, BHSc (c)

Important: I do not treat WCB cases, I direct bill only Blue Cross, and I accept cash/debit/credit as well as bitcoin for payment.

Treatment style: My manual approach is grounded in deep tissue and fascial work with passive tissue stretching and joint manipulation. My treatments are moderate-deep pressure combined with smooth flow and relaxation techniques. Whether you’re coming in to decompress or have an injury or imbalance that requires more detailed assessment and treatment, I’ll be able to create a unique treatment for you. If you’re interested in take-home exercises, I can also create a customized plan to help you achieve your goals. My practice focuses on healing through manual treatment and movement education. I like to educate patients in anatomy, physiology, as well as prevention and remedial treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions. I also empower patients in managing chronic pain (fibromyalgia, central pain sensitization, etc.) and repetitive strain injuries, and help people with integrating positive movement into their daily lives.

About me: I am a massage therapist and a fourth-year Bachelor of Health Science candidate with Thompson Rivers University. My personal approach to treatment is concrete and rooted in resolving anatomical dysfunction, but I also believe massage is a sacred space that promotes wellness and healing in other ways.

Availability: I currently work Tues-Thurs and weekends. Please contact us via the online web form if you would like to book but can’t find a spot online as we sometimes more people on than the schedule shows.

Paul Sulzycki MSc, RMT

Important: I do NOT treat WCB cases, I direct bill only Pacific Blue Cross, and in addition to regular payments I also accept bitcoin. Prices listed include tax; treatment times listed include 5m at the end reserved for clinical paperwork related to treatment.

About treatment: My style usually works best when done over 3-4 weekly 45m sessions than fewer, longer sessions. If it’s your first time, I recommend a 45m treatment to start. I’ve had particularly good results treating stubbornly tense muscle, trigger points (eg: tension headaches, sustained “stabbing” back/arm/chest pain), pain-anxiety-tension cycles (eg: frozen shoulder, chronic low back/neck pain), and nerve impingements (eg: sciatica, piriformis/carpal tunnel/thoracic outlet syndromes, limb/extremity numbness/coldness). Treatments consist of 2-5m intakes and sendoffs with the remainder hands-on. I dive right into problem areas securely but intensively. My depth is moderate-to-deep and my style integrates classic massage with flowing/rocking techniques, often involving exercise and movement.

About me: I’ve massaging 13 years, the last five of which I’ve focused on more clinical work, especially on treating chronic muscle pain and tension. Suffering from (and having resolved) the same myself has given me great insight into these issues. I’ve worked across five provinces and have taught massage therapy at WCCMT up the street as well as at universities abroad. I hold a BSc specializing in physiology and an MSc in sport psychology where I developed a trigger point treatment protocol for my thesis (spmx.ca/trp). I’ve also been doing judo for almost 25 years now, currently teaching at the police judo club at SFU.

Contact: spmx.ca/contact (I usually respond in a day or two, unless I’m traveling).

Desiree Taylor RMT, RHN, Aromatherapist

Important to note: I do not treat WCB cases. I’m happy to provide direct billing to PBC and accept cash or credit as payment.

Since 2009, as a Registered Massage Therapist, I have had the privilege of working with people on their path to wellness. I strive to create a welcoming space of healing where I not only assess the physical symptoms but also listen to each individual story and narrative. Every injury has a different history of physical complications and emotional ups and downs that I promise to consider while I create a treatment plan that is best suited for you.

Whether your aches and pains are derived from a physical imbalance or emotional turmoil, my intention is to encourage the body to move into a state of ease. In my practice, with the help of my intuition, I use a number of different techniques such as hot stone massage, hot/cold stone massage, Swedish massage, trigger point release, myofascial release, joint play, dermoneuromodulation and gentle lymphatic drainage to encourage a healthier and more relaxed state of being.

I have an immense respect for the way our emotions, memories and traumas can be held physically in our body and I works well with those suffering from chronic pain, fibromyalgia, stress, anxiety and post-traumatic stress. To have you entrust me with your challenges is an honour that I do not take lightly and as your massage therapist, I promise to help you to the best of my ability.

Treatments/Availability: I offer both 60 and 90 minute treatments, with the option of hot stone. For the remainder of January 2019, I am available on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Beginning in February, I will be available Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
